D&D 4th edition

Having been a Role Player for a long while now, my group decided that we’d delve into the new 4th edition of Dungeons & Dragons. We had been hopping around the state from game shop to game shop when we came across a shop that was hosting a D&D tournament. It’s being run in the 4th edition world of Eberron. So, the lot of us with a small addition, are setting up a team of 6 characters to run through a multi-DM day long encounter.Spurred and enthused by this, I decided I wanted total immersion.  We had never used miniatures in RPing before but this rendition of the classic AD&D relies on them for combat. I was amazed at the differences between 3.5 and 4.0. Combat has evolved from the standard: “Ok i attack, do i hit?” to “I smite the foe with my deity enhanced attack, buffing the party in the same action helping their attacks hit this same foe as well!”. Shifting, flanking, pushing, electrocuting, and blasting are now so fun that we become even more immersed into our sessions.I also purchased some foam-board and built myself a battle board complete with attachable wall sections. Picked up some new miniatures. As well as ordered a bunch of new dice (Pound-o-dice from Chessex)Last  night we added everything together and ran our first 4th Ed session. It was amazing, even with first level characters, we felt the will to utilize every one of our powers. Our mage blasted Dire Wolves, our Fighter clobbered theves, the Cleric ran around healing people in the midst of combat, and my avenger rot havic.undefined

Write Me

I had totally and 100% forgotten about my friends creation. A few of my friends started a web comic that rolls out a few laughs. It’s a comic biased on our group of friends (I actually don’t think I’ve even made an appearance in it but it’s still ‘pimp’.)I’d recommend reading it. It’s a hoot and gives you an incite into the lives of the people I spend time with!WriteMe

Delayed…

Sorry for the long delay in posts. I’ve been running around making sure my financial aid and other aspects of school are A-OK. It took a little jimmying but all the pieces fell into place.

Taking care of a lot of of core classes this semester.  Biology II, Art, Math, and Sociology. Only bad part is that my Bio class is from 5 till 10 in the evening. Not exactly the best time to be learning. But it’s a class with people more my age so I don’t have to deal with as many teenagers as in my other classes.

Oh, discovered that my little sister is pregnant over winter break. So that’s an interesting development.

Aside from all that the only new thing is my ‘wicked awesome’ new decal on the rear window of my truck (picture below)

If you haven’t seen it or only seen it in a regular theater then go see it in IMAX.We had attempted to go last night but both shows were sold out. This mornings show was also sold out. For a movie to be selling out like this every showing, you have to know it’s good. There was a trailer for Iron Man 2…  I cant wait!

LG Projector Phone

I was watching TV today and I saw an ad for a new device that LG and AT&T.It’s called the LG eXpo, a phone with a detachable pico-projector.I have no clue what I’d use it for but i want it.mpwiBy itself the phone seems to be a solid investment. 5.0  MP camera, WiFi, slide out QWERTY keyboard, and a touch screen. All powered by Windows Mobile 6.5.  The projector claims it can display anything on the phone on any surface to create an image up to 40″ wide. Some people who’ve had hands on experience say they can get an image to appear readable at 120″.I can imagine that in a pinch you could watch a movie on it while on the road but not much more then that. I’d love to hear some peoples opinions about the battery life and resolution.

Happy New Year

Well folks, its a new year. I didn’t bother with the new year resolutions this year since I never seem to actually follow through  on any of them.We had a lot happen in the past year. We elected our first black president. The economy crashed. MJ died. Twitter hit main stream. NH gay marriage bill was passed. Patrick Swayze died. H1N1 killed a few people. And some other stuff I cant remember.I hope everybody had a great 2010!

Opening Post!

Here it is! The very first post in my Blog.

Received a phone call from a close friend of mine this evening. She had locked herself out of her car while it was running. So she was stuck at work with her child that had just been dropped off to her by her father when she realized what she had done. Her father being the intelligent person he is, started to pry the door open with a tire iron, Gerber Multi-Tool and an old wiper blade. Meanwhile, she trooped up and down the street trying to find a wire coat hanger. Apparently nobody uses them anymore.

After a while of this, she gave in and called me. Pulling on my coat, boots, and hat, I drove the few miles to her work. When I arrived, the car was starting to sputter because of the lack of gas. I made short work of the wire hanger I brought with me, with my own multi-tool. Fashioned a hooked end and just as i had the push lock grasped, the car ran out of gas. So one problem solved, new problem discovered.

Lucky for us there was a gas station right next door. Few minutes later we had a gallon of gas, strawberry milk, and a Hostess cake (for the youngster). And, a few minutes after that we had a running car. And my socks are soaked!
